Newton One of 10 Best Places in America to Raise a Family
See where the city ranked on Livability.com's annual list.
NEWTON, MA - Newton has been named one of the 10 best places in America to raise a family.
The city ranked third on website Livability.com's annual list, behind Rockville, MD and Chandler, AZ.
The site praised Newton for its "good schools, safe and historic neighborhoods and close proximity to Boston." It also said that the 13 villages that comprise Newton, each with their own unique charm, add to the city's appeal.

In 2012 Money magazine selected Newton as one of the best small towns in the nation and website Aneki.com dubbed it the safest city in America.

The average home price in Newton is $855,000 and the city's median household income is $167,000 - more than twice the statewide and national averages, the site reported.
