Newton Police: Arrests for Drugs, Leaving Scene of Property Damage

Monday, March 2
- Police spotted an ‘08 Mercedes take a left turn from Craft Street to Washington Street without signaling, and had an unlit registration plate. Police pulled the car over, with dispatch finding that the driver had no license and had been charged with driving after suspension before. Marcos Elias Bicalho, 28, 324 Broadway, Chelsea, was arrested and charged with driving without a license, and a citation for failing to signal and registration plate violation.
Wednesday, March 4
- Police spotted a 2003 Mercedes that failed to stop for a red light at Beacon Street and Chestnut Street and pulled the driver over. The front windshield had tinting that extended more than six inches from the top. Also, the driver’s license status was suspended. Elman Mammadli, 20, 35 Harbor Point Boulevard, Dorchester, was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

- Police stopped a vehicle at Chestnut and Amherst Road. Morgan A. Drew, 20, 338 Hunnywell St., Needham, was arrested and charged with operating with a revoked license, an equipment violation, broken driver’s side mirror and cited for violating a city ordinance - possession of marijuana under an ounce.
- Police responded to Green Street to serve a warrant. Katrina M. Lotti, 25, 24 Windermere Road, Dorchester, was placed under arrest and charged with probation default warrant - the original charge was possession of Class C narcotics.
- Police spotted a gray Honda Accord travel into the middle of an intersection and stop abruptly for no apparent reason at California and Nevada streets. The car then headed down Nevada toward Linwood Ave. After running the plate, police received a possible warrant hit for the registered owner. Jaymes W. McMinn, 42, 105 Washington Peak, Newton, was arrested on a straight warrant out of the Boston District Court for leaving the scene of property damage.
