Newton Police: Car Thief Hits Vehicles, Grabs Laptop and Coach Purse; Tagging to Company Truck

Incidents, Tuesday, April 7:
- Police responded to 153 Needham St., NE Cryogenics, for a report of a tagging to a company truck. The caller said that sometime overnight a Cryogenics box truck was tagged while it was parked in the rear side lot that abuts the Avalon property.
- At 7:50 p.m., police were dispatched to Washington Street for a B&E into a motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle said that he was in the parking lot next to The Local Restaurant and went to leave when he noticed his driver’s side window smashed. His Dell laptop 67 was missing from the passenger’s seat.
- Also at 7:50 p.m., police responded to another call on Washington Street for a B&E into a car. A woman said she arrived to work at 4 p.m. and wasn’t aware that her vehicle was broken into until detectives made contact with her. She had left her black Coach purse on the passenger side front seat of her vehicle. There was nothing of value in the purse and nothing else was missing from the car.
