Newton Police Investigating Pig Meat Left On Walking Trail

The piece is believed to have been deliberately placed.

NEWTON, MA — The police department announced it has launched an investigation after what is believed to be a piece of pig meat was left in the area of a walking trail.

According to the department, the raw meat described as either a full pig leg or flank was placed by a person in the vicinity of Flowed Meadow at the Cove in Auburndale Park. Police do not know why the meat was placed there, but theorized that it could have been left to feed wildlife or lure them to the spot for hunting purposes.

In addition to the piece of meat, a red flag and note were also let at the scene. The contents of the note have not been revealed as the investigation continues. Newton Animal Control and the Massachusetts Environmental Police are assisting in the investigation.
