MEDFORD, MA — One person was transported to the hospital after a motor vehicle accident that took place in the downtown area Thursday evening.
Police and fire crews responded to the scene at 35 Riverside Ave. at approximately 5 p.m. to find a black SUV crashed into the front of the Donuts with a Difference store. According to Officer Jessica Walsh of the Medford Police Department, the man driving the vehicle suffered a medical emergency while driving, causing the vehicle to jump the curb and collide with the front of the building.
Residents Rebecca Stearns and Carolyn Chung reportedly witnessed the incident, and Stearns assisted with removing the driver from his SUV, which had also reportedly began smoking after the crash. Stearns told Patch that she hopes the man is doing well and the community rallies in support of the business.
