Newton Police: Little Girl Steals Rings; House Robber Takes Jewelry, Pillow Case

Incidents, Wednesday, May 20
- Police responded to 331 Walnut St. (Diva) for a past larceny. The owner said that on the previous day, a little girl accompanied by her nanny had stolen some rings. An employee noticed the rings missing, and when they checked the security tapes, she saw that at 3:52 p.m., the little girl placed the rings in her pocket. The store did not want to press charges, and only wished for the merchandise to be returned.
- Police took a report at the front desk of a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. A woman said that on the previous day sometime while at work at Star Market in Auburndale, her rental car was keyed. She said her shift ended at 4 p.m. and she came out to her rental car in the lot and noticed it.
- Police were dispatched to 2370 Commonwealth Ave. for a report of larceny. At approximately 5:32 p.m., a silver Honda Civic pulled up to pump number one and pumped $28.18 in gas. The female occupant of the vehicle entered the Hess Station and used the facilities and left the station in a hurry.
- Police responded to Parkway Road for a report of past breaking and entering. A woman said that she left her home the previous day at 10 a.m. and returned on the following evening at 10 p.m. In her second floor bedroom, her personal belongings had been pulled out of her dresser and strewn about. Two silver rings are missing along with a silver necklace that come in a set. She also had a plastic jar with coins. That is missing. A pillow case is gone, too.
