Newton Police: Man Behind Dumpster Charged With Stealing From FedEx Truck, Distributing Drugs
The following is an excerpt from the Newton Police Log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
On April 10, Newton police responded to the Chestnut Hill Mall, to the loading dock behind the men’s store of Bloomingdales.
Mall security had called police to report that they were with a man allegedly involved in larceny from a FedEx truck.
When police arrived, they talked with mall maintenance, who saw a man walking away from the FedEx truck with a green crate in his arms. The maintenance man said the man then walked behind the dumpsters with the crate. He asked the person, “What are you doing?” The man said that he worked at the Cheesecake Factory, and was “acting very nervous.” Reporting this to the FedEx truck driver, he checked the truck and noticed the missing green crate. Mall security found the alleged thief still on the scene behind the dumpster. He was leaning over the green crate, stuffing merchandise from the crate into his personal backpack.
