Newton Police: Man Looks in Windows, Says He Wants to Shovel Snow But Has no Shovel or Gloves
The following are excerpts from the Newton Police Log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Feb. 10
- Police responded to Auburndale Ave. for a report of a white male wearing a black coat, winter hat and black backpack looking into windows of the residence. The reporting party said that he saw this man looking into his basement window. The man banged on the window to scare him away, and the man with the backpack took off on foot down Auburndale Ave. toward Lexington Street. Officers followed footprints that led to the next door neighbor’s front door and crossed over Lexington to Freeman. The male matching that description was located shortly afterward. The man said that he was working as a snow shoveler for a landscaping company earlier and wanted to go back out and do his own snow removal for cash. Officers noted that it was nine degrees out, he did not have gloves, nor possess any shovel or snow removal equipment. He also had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol emanating from him as he spoke. Based on looking into the window and invading privacy, he was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. A bottle of Bud Light Platinum was also found in the backpack. He was charged with a minor in possession. Jorge Leon, 20, 215 Spencer Ave., Chelsea, MA, was charged with both.
