Newton Police: Man Runs, Leaves Girl Behind, Girl Gets Arrested; Stolen Jewelry, Tools; OUI
The following was supplied by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On April 2, police responded to Bloomingdales at 225 Boylston St. for a report of a shoplifted being detained by security. A person was being detained by loss prevention for taking and concealing $666 worth of merchandise. Loss prevention said the person attempted to conceal 22 pieces of Alex and Ani jewelry and was stopped while heading into the bathroom. The woman, 22, from Buzzards Bay, was issued a no trespassing order and will be summonsed to court for larceny over $250.
Also on April 2, police were working alcohol enforcement. While at Wegmans Liquor, they spotted two white females enter the store and they appeared to be under 21. Both approached the register with alcohol and tried to make a purchase. The clerk did not accept their identification and said that it was an out of state card. They left, and police asked them to show the identification they had tried to use. Police knew it to be fake. Both were notified that police would be seeking complaints for liquor ID misuse. Both females, who were 17, were from Newton.
On April 2, dispatch informed police that a black Ford pickup truck was swerving and driving erratically on Woodward Street. Traveling north on Woodward and nearing Bradford Road, the truck crossed the double solid lines and began to travel in the next lane, causing police to swerve. Police turned on their lights and headed south on Woodward Street, attempting to pull the truck over. The truck, again, crossed the double solid lines near the intersection of Woodward Street at Lincoln Street. The driver then pulled over. The driver rolled down his window, and police could immediately smell a strong odor of alcohol. His eyes were extremely bloodshot and glassy, speech was slurred and he struggled to remove his license from his wallet. James Davis, 58, homeless, was placed under arrest and cited for OUI and marked lanes violation.
