Newton Police: Newton Man Charged With OUI
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Sunday, May 10, police spotted a black Toyota Corolla headed northbound on Center Street. The car drove by another vehicle’s left side, crossed over the double yellow marked lines. Before police approached the car, an officer saw the operator reach around the back seat of the vehicle directly behind the operator’s seat and then into the passenger area to the direct right of the driver.
The officer, from a bird’s eye view into the rear seats of the car, saw a brown glass bottle with its contents spilling onto the floor. Bending down to speak eye to eye with the driver, the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car. The driver’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy and his speech was slurred. He was also nervous and stuttered his words and his hands were shaky while searching for his license and registration. Yannick C. Bellot, 30, 21 Roland St., Newton, was arrested and charged with OUI, marked lanes violation, open container of alcohol in vehicle.
