Newton Police: Rash of Car Breaks on Dec. 30
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Dec. 30
- Police responded to Randlett Parkway for a past B&E to two motor vehicles. Both cars were entered sometime during the night, and both driver’s side doors were ajar in the morning.
- A report was taken for a B&E to a motor vehicle on Pratt Drive. The owner of the car said that someone entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. Change was stolen.
- A resident came into police headquarters to report malicious damage to three of their motor vehicles. They said that they first noticed damage to the BMW on Dec. 18. They also reported noticing damage on Dec. 21 on the Chevy Tahoe. They had to have a nail removed from one of the tires. On Dec. 29, their Saab also had to have a nail removed from the tire.
- Police took a report of a B&E into a car on Bunker Lane. The owner said that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took change and a computer.
- Again, police responded to a call from Bunker Lane for a report of past B&E to motor vehicle. Sometime between 1-7 a.m., someone went into the owner’s unlocked Honda Accord, did not take anything, but left the doors open. It was parked in the driveway.
- The owner of a Toyota Highlander, 2004, parked on Wyoming Road, also reported that his unlocked car had been entered and cash and change was stolen. The glove box was left open.
