Newton SWAT Standoff Ends Peacefully
Police swarmed Elliot Street for the three-hour standoff Thursday afternoon.

A three-hour police standoff in Newton Thursday involving a man wielding a steak knife ended peacefully.
Police said the incident happened on Elliot Street near Mechanic Street. Parts of surrounding streets were closed as SWAT teams set up a perimeter.
WHDH reported the man, who was said to be in his 20s, was accompanied by a woman. Neither were hurt.
