Newton Police: Thieves Help Themselves to Candy; Man With BB Gun Dashes to Driveway; Stolen Plow, and Stolen Pieces of Plows
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Jan. 28
- Police responded to a report of the theft of a plow. The reporting party owns the property at Lexington Street where he stores his 9-foot stainless steel Fisher Plow. He went to retrieve it yesterday to plow his properties. When he noticed the plow missing he asked one of his tenants, who told him that the plow has been gone from the driveway for about a month.
- Police delivered a probation warrant to a 16-year-old male in Newton on Cypress Street.
Sunday, Feb. 1
- A resident from Kinmonth Road came into the station to report that her front license plate is missing.
- Police responded to Troy Lane for the report of a stolen iPhone. At approximately 6 p.m., the reporting party said she was shopping at Whole Foods on Walnut Street. She believes after packing up her car, she left her white iPhone in either the carriage she was using or at the check-out counter.
Monday, Feb. 2

- Police responded to a report of an unarmed robbery at Piccadilly Market. Employees said a man exited the market and approached the alleyway leading to the rear of Sovereign Bank. The person also said he had walked past this man, a white male about 6’2” and wearing a light green jacket, as he was standing in the entrance to the alley. When he walked past, the man pushed him down from behind and stole the black nylon Sovereign Bank Deposit Bag and fled. The suspect fled back toward Union Street.
- Vandalism was reported on Parker Ave. A man said he had gone outside to start his snowblower and saw a starter rope tot he snowblower had been cut above the engine block.
Tuesday, Feb. 3
- Police responded to 416 Watertown St. for a report of malicious damage. The manager said that when he went to work in the morning, the phones were not working. The phone lines had been cut, said a technician, outside the building. There was no other damage.
- A person at the YMCA said that someone had taken his wallet out of his pocket while he was in the locker. It was a brown leather wallet and it had cash and six or seven credit cards.
- While police traveled on Waltham Street, they spotted a driver in a gray toyota Scion go through a stop sign. Police pulled the driver over, eventually, after he continued down Davis Ave. The driver then pulled into a driveway, in the back, on Vincent Street with the engine and lights turned off. With the seat in the reclined position, the man was in possession of a BB gun. The 21-year-old was issued a citation for failure to stop for police.

- Police responded to Lincoln Street for a past B&E report. The resident said that on Sunday between 4-6 p.m., she had gone to her office on Lincoln Street to retrieve her hard drive. When she got there, a white man was sitting on the couch in the lobby in the office. She didn’t think much of it. A female, too, was leaving one of the other offices. On Feb. 5, she called others who share the office and the three decided the two suspects didn’t belong there. Some candy was missing and wrappers were left on floor. Keys to the office were also taken.
- Police responded to 199 Boylston St., Vineyard vines, for a past shoplifting. The store manager said that a white female, around 40, 5’6” and slender, wearing black jacket and pants, stole an orange and tan sweater.
