Newton Police: Two Marble Unicorns Stolen From House on Commonwealth

Incidents, Saturday, April 25

  • Police responded to Bridges Ave. for a past report of vandalism.The person reported that sometime overnight or early in the morning, suspects broke a rear driver’s side window to his 2010 gray Ford SUV. The vehicle was parked in the driveway. There is a possibility that landscapers may have accidentally broken the window.
  • Police responded to Court Street for a report of a stolen barrel. A resident said that he brought his blue city trash barrel from the sidewalk to his driveway at about 11 a.m. He was gone all day and returned around 5 p.m. to find it missing.
  • Police responded to Commonwealth Ave. for a report of larceny of statues from a residence. The owner said that when she arrived home that night, she noticed her two marble unicorn statues missing from her front steps. She pointed to where the statues were, and the dirt markings of where they sat on the steps.
  • Police were waved down by a man in the Austin Street municipal lot. He said that he went into Gordon’s liquors for about two minutes when his bike was taken from the bike rack outside of Star Market. It was not locked. It is described as a blue specialized bike with a milk crate on the back.
