Newton Public Schools Canceled, City Declares Snow Emergency

No School for Newton! And residents are to stay off the roads if possible.

NEWTON, MA — It's the trifecta: Newton Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, and Newton has declared a snow emergency and parking ban. The first snow emergency of 2018 comes as the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for the predicted foot and a half of snow expected to hit the area Thursday morning.

An Emergency Parking Ban will go into effect Thursday at 8 a.m. in the City of Newton.

Between November 15 through April 15 cars are not allowed to park on any City street for longer than one hour between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. anyway, but if a “Snow Emergency” is declared, parking is not allowed on any city street or owners risk a ticket or tow. If you don't have a driveway you can park in city parking lots overnight. Permits are required and may be obtained through the Newton Police Department.
