Newton Resident Recipient of a $97K Grant from the National Science Foundation
Northeastern University Professor Awarded Grant

Hanchen Huang, professor at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering, was recently awarded a $97K grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his work with “Injectable, Biocompatible, Programmed-Bioresorbable Nanosensor Array for In-Vivo Continuous Glucose Monitoring.“
This project will illustrate how nanotechnology, biomaterials, and biosensing technologies can be meshed together for injectable, biocompatible, bioresorbable nanosensor array for continuous glucose monitoring. The work will advance in vitro and/or in vivo monitoring technology for continuous glucose monitoring in general and, if successful, will not only have an enormous impact on public health, but also provide a demonstration from basic science to applications.
A Newton resident, Professor Huang received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. Currently, Professor Huang is a professor and chair of the mechanical and industrial engineering department in the College of Engineering where he specializes in teaching static and dynamic solid mechanics in addition to computational engineering science.
