Police said the woman received a call from a man saying her computer had been hacked and he could walk her through how to fix it.

Newton, MA â A Newton woman reported another attempted phone scam to police - this time, involving a supposed hacked computer.
The woman told police a man called her saying her computer had been hacked and offered to fix it. He reportedly told her to go on the computer so he could walk her through the steps.
Though she hung up on the caller, Newton Police said he likely would have asked her to relinquish control of the computer to him remotely so he could repair it.
