Newton Residents Target of IRS Scam
Police ask that you do not give any personal information out over the phone.

NEWTON, MA - Residents are advised to be on the lookout for scam callers identifying themselves as IRS employees.
The scammer calls from a faux IRS phone number and demands money over the phone, threatening those on the other end with arrest if they do not comply.
Newton police are warning residents to be wary of phone calls where an individuals asks for money or personal identifying information such as date of birth, checking account numbers or social security information.
