Newton South Student Named Siemens Science, Math, Technology Semifinalist
The Siemens Competition is a yearly math, science and technology competition that awards scholarships as high as $100,000.
NEWTON, MA – A student at Newton South High School has been named a Siemens Competition semifinalist this year.
Hannah Cole is one of 19 Massachusetts students to receive the honor. The competition is the nation's premier math, science and technology contest for high school students, awarding college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 yearly.
Students may submit individual and team research projects to regional and national levels of competition; this year, of the more than 1600 projects submitted, 498 students have been selected as semifinalists. Next, the group will be judged to determine who advances to six regional competitions in November, followed by the National Finals in December.

The competition will culminate in a ceremony at George Washington University, where a total of $500,000 in scholarships – including two top prizes of $100,000 – will be awarded.
