Newton Students Receive Scholastic Arts Awards
Newton Country Day School students Lily Durbin and Alexandra Kouroriez were recognized by the Boston Globe this year.
NEWTON, MA – Two Newton Country Day School students were recognized by the Boston Globe as part of the publication's 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
More than 15,000 pieces of artwork and 2,500 pieces of writing were submitted to the judges' panel. Each entry was graded based on originality, technical skill and personal voice or vision. Students are awarded a Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable Mention at the regional level.
Senior Lily Durbin received two Gold Keys in the Design category, a Silver Key in the Fashion category and an Honorable Mention in Drawing and Illustration, while junior Alexandra Kouroriez received an Honorable Mention in Drawing and Illustration.

Gold Key work is then judged at the national level, with winners announced in March. Gold and Silver Key recipients will be celebrated at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts on March 11, and a Gold Key exhibit will run from March 11-26 at the Bruce C. Bolling Building in Roxbury.
