Newton-Wellesley Hospital Presents Fall Orthopaedic Lecture Series

Join hospital staff as they tackle a number of orthopaedic issues, such as injury prevention and minimally invasive surgical procedures.

NEWTON, MA – Medical experts at Newton-Wellesley Hospital will present an orthopaedic lecture series this fall it the Ambulatory Care Center.

Join the staff as they address a range of orthopaedic issues, including injury prevention treatment for low back pain, minimally invasive surgical procedures and a number of other topics.

Each lecture will be followed by a Q&A session. Refreshments will be served and parking is free.

Tues., Sept. 20

Treatment for Low Back Pain

NWH Spine Center Staff:

  • Dr. Lou Jenis – multidisciplinary care
  • Dr. Alec Meleger-- causes, treatments, and prevention of acute and chronic low back pain
  • Dr. Jessica Aidlen – minimally invasive surgical options
  • Dr. Antje Barreveld—radiofrequency ablation and other interventions for chronic pain
  • Dr. Dana Kotler and Dr. Joanne Borg-Stein-- pilates, regenerative biologic injections and other approaches
  • Physical Therapy Staff -- importance of education, movement and functionally oriented approach

Joint Health: Advances in Hip and Knee Replacement

  • Dr. Hany Bedair, Medical Director, Newton-Wellesley Hospital Kaplan Joint Center

This lecture will discuss recent developments in joint replacement surgery to increase mobility, minimize pain, and provide a quicker recovery and return to a more active lifestyle.

Sports Injury in Athletes

  • Dr. Robert Nascimento, Assistant Chief, Sports Medicine, Newton-Wellesley Hospital

This lecture will discuss types and causes of common sports injuries, treatment options, and injury prevention associated with athletes and physically active individuals.
