Newton Woman Finds Ohio Girl's Balloon Message to Military Father

The balloon was released into the sky last month for the girl's late father; it read "I love and miss you daddy."

Newton, MA – A Newton woman found a balloon message sent from an Ohio girl to her military father, who was killed in action overseas.

In a Facebook post, the woman said she found a yellow balloon on Tuesday with a message reading, "I love and miss you daddy. Eaton, Ohio. 5-25-16."

On the other side, it simply read, "Elizabeth."

The woman posted a photo of the balloon to the Facebook page of VFW Post 8066 in Eaton, hoping someone could let Elizabeth know how far her balloon had traveled.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, VFW Post 8066 said Elizabeth's grandmother had seen the picture within hours of it being shared.

According to the post, Elizabeth and her sister released three balloons on their father's 30th birthday. He was killed in the line of duty years ago, and the girls send balloons out every year for his birthday, the post said.

The VFW wrote that the grandmother believes the girls' father was sending a message back that "he misses and loves them too."
