Newton's Mad Batter Cupcake Shop Closed

Just over two months after it opened its doors in Newton Centre, the Mad Batter Cupcake Cafe has closed.

According to one of the business' owners, Linda Schwartz, the cupcake bakery closed after a dispute among the owners of the business.  

The cupcake cafe opened around Mother's Day of this year and, according to Schwartz, closed up shop on July 23. 

Mad Batter not only specialized in fun, colorful cupcakes, it also offered birthday parties where kids could decorate their own cupcakes. Some parties, Schwartz said, had to be canceled due to the store's closing.

Much of the store's furniture, decorations and supplies still remain intact and on display.

Schwartz said she was unsure as to the future of the bakery, which is located at 1187 Centre St.
