Newtonville's Venditti Named NEWMAC Athlete of the Year

Alexander Venditti, senior first baseman for Worcester Polytechnic Institute, also landed on the 2016 All-Conference Team.

NEWTON, MA - The accolades keep coming for Newtonville's Alexander Venditti.

After recently being honored as a NEWMAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week, Venditti was named the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year for baseball.

The senior first baseman for Worcester Polytechnic Institute also landed on the 2016 All-Conference Team. He is the first Athlete of the Year from WPI since outfielder Scott McNee received the honor in 2008.

Venditti leads the conference with 15 home runs, 58 RBIs, 114 total bases, five sacrifice flies and an .844 slugging percentage. He is second in batting average, hitting .430, walks and on base percentage.

The Engineers are 26-13 this season and 12-5 in conference play. They will next take on St. Joseph's this Thursday at MIT.
