North Street Closed Because of Waltham Water Main Break

The road is expected to remain closed for four to six hours.

  • Update: Waltham police reported River Street and Seyon and Farwell Streets are now open. North street in Newton was reopened Tuesday night but motorists are urged to use caution. Pleasant street in Watertown has also been reopened. The area of the leak is still under construction. See the most recent photo of the scene HERE.

NEWTON, MA - Newton police said North street is shut down after a major water main break in Waltham but Newton residents will be allowed in.

Police wrote on social media the road will remain closed for between four and six hours as of noon Tuesday.

For approx. 4-6 hours North St. (heading into Waltham) will be closed due to activity in Waltham. Residents of Newton will be allowed in.

The leak has been isolated according to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority.

The break happened at 36 River St in Waltham, according to Waltham’s official Twitter page. Watertown police said Pleasant street is also closed to non-residents.
