Newton Wellesley Hospital Gets All Clear After Bomb Threats
There's a large police and fire presence at Newton Wellesley Hospital this morning, as police investigated bomb threats.

NEWTON, MA — Newton-Wellesley Hospital has been given the all-clear and is operating normally, after the hospital got a bomb threat and police and fire officials searched the building.
"Earlier today, we received a bomb threat related to NWH and our Waltham Urgent Care. After a thorough sweep, we were notified by State Police that no suspicious objects were found at either facility, and both sites have been cleared from any threats. Normal operations continue," the hospital said in a statement.
"We were just notified by the State Police that no suspicious objects were found at either facility and that both facilities have been cleared from any threat," she said. "Our top priority throughout this process has been the safety of our patients, staff and visitors," the hospital's Rachel Cagno said in an email to Patch.

About 8:45 a.m. the hospital received a bomb threat, according to police.
Newton Police Fire and Mass State Police responded and searched the area.

"Everybody here is acting out of an abundance of caution," Capt. Eric Fricke of the Newton Fire Department told Patch earlier.
Fricke said officials swept the buildings and the tunnels and bridges and hallways at the main hospital and has swept the other locations in Newton, including the Wells Avenue spot and the Needham Street location.
"The State Police using their K-9s did a sweep of the hospital. Everybody at this time is cleared," said Lt. Bruce Apothekar just before noon.
Although it's believed to be a hoax, police are still investigating.
