Road Rage Ends In Orange Juice To A Car: Newton Police Logs

Well, that's one way to handle a situation.

NEWTON, MA — Here's a sample of the types of calls the Newton Police Department have responded to during the past two weeks. The following from reports of a number of car break-ins to a stolen grocery bag are taken from the Newton Police log. Arrests do not imply conviction.

Monday, Sept. 10

ROAD RAGE ends in OJ: Someone told police that while she was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Washington and Church streets, a man in a sliver sedan pulled up and started screaming profanities at her through the passenger side windows. She said the man got out of her car and came over and opened the passenger door as she was rolling up the windows. When he opened the door he sprayed orange juice on her and her passenger. She described the man as Hispanic, tall, skinny and in his late 20s with dark curly hair. She said there was no damage to the car other than the smell of OJ.

Break in: Someone on Mechanic Street reported a break in.

Shoplifter: Employees at Bloomingdales at the Chestnut Hill Shops reported a shoplifter.

Stolen bike: Someone reported a bike was taken from Lincoln Road.

Larceny: Police responded to a report of a larceny on Woodland Road.

Assault and battery: Someone called in an assault and battery on Wetherell Street.

Tuesday, Sept. 11

Warrant Arrest: Police arrested Alexander Andujar, 27, of Hyde Park on a warrant out of Dedham District Court, for assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. He also had a warrant, for an OUI Liquor, and operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended for OUI and other motor vehicle offenses.

Wednesday, Sept. 12

Arrest, Bad check: Police were dispatched to 1160 Walnut St, Brookline Bank, for a report of a bad check passed while the person who was trying to cash it was still inside the bank. Police arrested Ahmmed Kamoro Kaba, 21, of Brockton, was placed under arrest for uttering.

Thursday, Sept. 13

Stolen grocery bag: Someone reported that she was having lunch at Del Frisco’s restaurant on Boylston
Street and had hung a shopping bag on a hook near her table. After lunch said she left the store and forgot to take her shopping bag. When realized she left her bag, she called Del Frisco’s and someone there informed her bag was not there. The woman said that the Del Frisco’s management told her that they reviewed security video and saw two women take the bag.

Friday, Sept. 14

Fraud arrest: Someone at 2060 Commonwealth Ave reported a woman attempting to pass a fraudulent check. Police came and later arrested Valnardia M. Novas, 22, of Framingham, who had a warrant out for her arrest out of the Woburn District court for opperating on a suspended licence. Novas was placed under arrest and she was charged with Uttering;Novas was also charged with Obstruction of Justice.

Saturday, Sept. 15

Assault and battery: Police responded to a report of an assault on California Street at 6:09 p.m.

Larceny: Someone called police to report a larceny on Judkins Street.

Sunday, Sept 16

Tacks in the road: Two cyclists reported they ran over thumb tacks spread over the road near the bicycle lane on Winchester Street. Both cyclists got flat tires on the front and rear of their bikes.

Not there: Police responded to a report of someone illegally parked on Willard Street.


Monday, Sept. 17

Break in: Newton Tire and Auto located at 79 Needham Street was broken into overnight.

In progress: Someone called to report a break in happening at 12: 20 p.m. on Ferncroft Road.

Thursday, Sept. 20

Stolen bike: A bike was missing from the rear parking lot of 333 Walnut St.

Stolen wallet: Someone reported a stolen wallet at the YMCA on Church Street.

Friday, Sept. 21

More tacks: Someone called to report thumb tacks spread across the road near 364 Winchester St. When an officer arrived to check it out he found approximately 50 standard silver thumb tacks all over the
roadway. Most of the tacks were in the northbound travel and bike lanes of Winchester St. It
appears that they were thrown from a moving vehicle and a lot of the tacks were already run over
and crushed by passing motor vehicles.

Stolen car: Someone reported the car they'd parked near the corner of Beecher Place at Langley Road was no longer there.

Saturday, Sept. 22

Larcenies: Someone reported a theft on Boylston Street, and someone else reported one at Planet Fitness on Watertown Street.

At the church: Police were called to Our Lady's Church on Washington Street for a report that a car had been broken into.

Yogurt Beach: Someone reported there was a break-in attempt on Watertown Street.

Sunday, Sept. 23

Attempted: Someone called to report a larceny attempt on Watertown Street.

Cars broken into: Two people called to report their cars were broken into, including one on Beacon Street and another on Belmore Pk.

Monday, Sept. 24

Overdose: Police were called at 1:50 a.m. to California Street for a report of an overdose.

Car stolen: Someone called at 7:31 a.m. to report their car, which was parked on Sherbrooke Road, was no longer there.

Bikes stolen: Two people called to report bikes stolen including one on Turner Terrace and one that was stolen near the corner of Adams and Watertown streets.

Larcenies: Two other larcenies were reported, including on Valley Spring Road, Allen Ave.
