Could a nearly 40-year-old unsolved murder have possible ties to Massachusetts?

In 1976, the battered body of a young woman was found in the woods of Baltimore near a cemetery. Police still don’t know who the woman was, but have always surmised that she was from the Boston area.

New details have detectives eyes trying to solve the case, or even identify the young girl, reports WCVB-TV.

The murder involved the woman’s hands tied, as well as rope around her neck, a gag was stuffed down her throat, with bandanas pulled over her ahead. Also, a seed bag was over her head.

That seed bag could have only come from five stores, all in Massachusetts. The bag was stamped Farm Bureau Association, 158 Lexington St., Waltham. The bag also lists four other retails stores, in South Weymouth, Rochdale, Lowell and Greenfield.

Listed on its unsolved murders page, Baltimore police said of the victim: “She is believed to have been in her late teens to mid 20s, approximately 5’ 8” tall and weighed 159 pounds. She had shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes, a 1 1/2” scar on her left thigh and a “rough” (not professionally done) tattoo of letters that appear to be J.P. on her upper right arm. When discovered, she was wearing a white/beige pullover short sleeve top, beige/yellow Levi jeans, a white bra, brown colored shoes, a rawhide string necklace with a small round blue object affixed.”
