Third Annual Pops Concert & Picnic Coming to The Street

The event, featuring Newton's 50-piece New Philharmonia Orchestra, will be held Sep. 17 to close out the Summertime at The Street series.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – The Street will host its third annual Pops Concert & Picnic"next weekend, showcasing Newton's New Philarmonia Orchestra and bringing the "Summertime at The Street" series to a close.

The end-of-summer celebration, held Sat., Sept. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on The Green, is free and open to the public. In addition to a performance from the 50-piece orchestra, attendees will also be treated to al fresco dining options, including grab-and-go picnic lunches from The Cottage, Davio's and Legal Sea Foods.

Complimentary sweets from Pinkberry, Showcase SuperLux and Treat Cupcake Bar will be served, and visitors can take in The Street's eclectic art installations.

Here's a look at the picnic specials on hand during the concert:

  • Bernard’s: Choice of fried rice, lo mein, white rice, or brown rice with two sides ($7.95)
  • Comella's: Large cheese pizza with a garden salad ($10)
  • The Cottage: Two tacos, with the choice of chicken or fish, topped with guacamole, pico de gallo, napa cabbage and baja sauce; served with a side of black beans and papaya avocado salsa ($12)
  • Del Frisco’s Grille: Filet mignon slider with caramelized onions and horseradish creamer; served with parmesan frites ($12)
  • Davio's: Chicken salad with homemade cranberry bread; served with homemade potato chips, chocolate chip cookies and water ($15)
  • Legal Sea Foods: Shrimp salad wrap; served with bag of chips, coleslaw, and a brownie ($12.95)

In the event of rain, the Pops Concert & Picnic will be moved to Sun. Sept. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
