Thunderstorm Threat for Newton Tuesday Afternoon

A cold front coming through Tuesday may bring isolated and scattered thunderstorms to Newton Tuesday afternoon.

If thunderstoms hit the region, the storms are expected to contain brief periods of heavy rainfall and could cause some localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

While a widespread severe weather outbreak is not expected, a few strong thunderstorms to severe thunderstorms are possible to the northwest of Boston to the Providence line. The main threat wil be locally strong to straight-line damaging wind gusts.
