Upping the Nuclear Weapons Ante: Modernizing Doomsday

Peace and War, Nuclear Weapons, Presentation and Discussion

Few know that the US administration is making plans to spend approximately $1 Trillion over the next 30 years to modernize and upgrade our arsenal of nuclear weapons and delivery systems, at a time when we should be seeking to rid the world of nuclear weapons.  This meeting will lay out those  plans, describe the implications and why these upgrades will make us less safe, and discuss what we can do about it.  Presenting and leading the discussion will be Guntram Mueller of Massachusetts Peace Action and Jonathan King of M.I.T.  The meeting will be held at the Grace Episcopal Church, 76 Eldredge St, Newton Corner 02458 on Sunday, June 5, at 7:00pm  The meeting is free and open to the public but donations will be gratefully accepted.  Sponsored by Newton Dialogues on Peace and War and co-sponsored by United for Justice with Peace, Mass Peace Action, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom/Boston Branch, Women's Action for New Directions, Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries, First Unitarian Society of Newton Social Action Program, Newton North Peace Action, the Boston Chapter of Veterans for Peace, and Watetown Citizens for Peace, Justice and the Environment.
