Veterans Day 2021: Celebrations In Newton On Nov. 11

An in-person ceremony will take place starting at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Nonantum Post 440.

NEWTON, MA — The City of Newton will be honoring those who have served the country this Veterans Day, which falls on Thursday, Nov. 11.

An in-person ceremony will take place starting at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Nonantum Post 440, located 295 California Street.

"We will pause on the 11th hour of the 11th month ̶ Veterans Day ̶ to honor our military veterans who have served our country at home and around the world," said Mayor Ruthanne Fuller in a community update.

The event will feature remarks from keynote speaker Dr. Beth Fitzmaurice, who served as a Captain in the Army and as an instructor at West Point and is currently Newton's Assistant School Superintendent for Student Services.

Residents are asked to consider coming early at 10 a.m. to help make care packages and donate a used cell phone, non-perishable food, healthy snacks, drink mixes, or coffee for our troops.
