Voters For A Vibrant Newton Endorses 11 City Council Candidates

The endorsements were chosen based on candidates' responses to a detailed questionnaire and their commitment to VVN's goals.

NEWTON, MA — Voters for a Vibrant Newton (VVN), a local political action committee formed to promote an inclusive, forward-looking vision for the city, has endorsed 11 candidates in contested races for Newton City Council.

The candidates, who submitted their answers to detailed questionnaires, were chosen based on their commitment to VVN's goals and making sure Newton strives to become an open and welcoming city with vibrant village centers, diverse housing options, environmentally sustainable living, and a solid fiscal footing.

  • Ward 1 - Alison Leary
  • Ward 3 - Andrea Kelley and Meryl Kessler
  • Ward 5 - Deb Crossley and Andreae Downs
  • Ward 6 - Alicia Bowman and Vicki Danberg

“It’s clear that many candidates say they’re in favor of vibrant villages and affordable housing," said VVN Steering Committee Member Kerry Prasad in a statement. "These are the candidates who not only spoke out in favor of these issues, but identified clear and actionable plans for helping Newton achieve these goals."

"When it comes to the City Council, we need people who will take the right actions that will help us reach our goal of a vibrant Newton," she continued.
