City Rules Newton Woman Must Give Up Miniature Horse: Reports

NEWTON, MA — A Newton woman lost her appeal to keep a miniature horse, according to media reports.

"Judy Hinchey has been fighting to keep Clover, a miniature horse she says is both a pet and a trained emotional support animal that visits hospitals and schools," WCVB reported.

"On Monday, after receiving complaints about the horse’s smell, the city ruled to force Hinchey to give up the pet she’s fallen in love with," the Heights said.

"Hinchey’s next step is to appeal the City’s decision to the Middlesex Superior Court, focusing on the City’s not recognizing how Clover is different than a full-size horse," a Fig City News story said.

“I really think this is, like, an an injustice,” Hinchey said in a WHDH story. “I’m really angry at the City.”
