Well-Known Newton Art Dealer and Painting Conservator Died on April 28
Leonard Davis III's career spanned more than 40 years. He was also one of the first people to join the Peace Corps.

Leonard Landon Davis III died on April 28, 2015. He was an art dealer and painting conservator whose career spanned over forty years.
Leonard had the distinct honor of being one of the first volunteers to join the Peace Corps., and served in Columbia from 1961-1963. After he returned to the United States from Colombia in 1964, he attended Suffolk University and after graduating, created the English as a Second Language curriculum in the Boston Public School System. During his long career as an art dealer and painting conservator, Leonard handled major works by Maxfield Parrish, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, James Whistler, Claude Monet, Frederic Remington, Maurice Prendergast, and many other important European and American painters. His career in the arts took him across the United States and to London and Rio de Janeiro.

Leonard was the son of the late Leonard Landon Davis Jr and Irene Barbara Gilraine, and the brother of the late Raymond Leland Davis.
His ashes will be interred at the Newton Cemetery.
