What's Open, Closed On Christmas Day, Eve In Newton 2018

NEWTON, MA — Christmas is just around the corner. The holiday will be celebrated on a Tuesday this year, but a number of businesses will be closed in observance. There will be a few open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. But what's what? Here's a quick guide.

• City offices: Closed
• Schools: Closed
• Libraries: Closed
• Post Office: Closed
• Banks: Closed
• Gas Stations: Open

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

• CVS
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).

Supermarkets:

• Shaw's/Star Market
  • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Trader Joe's
  • Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Whole Foods
  • Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
  • Christmas Day: Closed.

Liquor Stores (all are closed on Christmas Day)

  • Christmas Eve: Open til 6 p.m.
