You Can Now Make Your Payments With Cards at City Hall

Newton's getting more modern. You can make payments with your credit or debit card now.

It’s part of Mayor Setti Warren’s vision to pull Newton toward a 21st century city, said the announcement.

So effective this month, customers can now use a debit or credit card to make payments with the city clerk or the treasurer’s office. It’s been available online for quite some time, but now will be at point of sale at City Hall.

Customers may continue to pay for tax and utility bills as well as birth, death and other vital certificates with personal check, cash, debit and now credit cards.

The City continues to offer and encourage the convenience of remote transactions by accessing the city website at newtonma.gov/billpay. The City also allows free e-check (ACH) payments online for customers who choose to do so, in order to bypass the standard convenience/ transaction fee associated with debit and credit transactions, said the announcement.
