Andover Man Pleads Not Guilty In Death Of 62-Year-Old Woman: Reports

A passerby found the woman, Pamela O'Neil, lying face down on the side of the road after she was hit by a motorcycle Sunday evening.

ANDOVER, MA — A 29-year-old Andover man pleaded not guilty Tuesday in the hit-and-run crash that killed a 62-year-old Methuen woman Sunday evening, according to multiple reports.

The crash occurred in the 400 block of Lowell Street in Methuen, where a passerby found the woman, Pamela O'Neil, lying face down on the side of the road following a motorcycle crash before O'Neil died at the hospital, Methuen police previously said.

Police said they later discovered surveillance footage of the accused, Martin Quinlan, speeding on a Harley Davidson motorcycle before striking O'Neal. Quinlan then slowed down and stopped before continuing down the road, according to police.

Quinlan pleaded not guilty to one count of leaving the scene of personal injury and death and one learner's permit violation, Boston.com reported, citing the Essex County District Attorney's office.

During his arraignment Tuesday, prosecutors said that Quinlan admitted that he was driving the motorcycle at the time of the accident, but said that he "didn't see [O'Neil]" because "it happened so fast," NBC10 Boston reported.
