Athlete of the Week: Matt Driscoll

13-year-old says he loves to hit and play first base; looks up to fellow first baseman David Ortiz.

Matt Driscoll started hitting baseballs around when he was three.  10 years later, he's still hitting them, now for the North Andover junior Red Sox.  Driscoll says his father got him into the game, and he's loved it ever since.

"I love the sound of the bat when it hits the ball," says Driscoll.

For North Andover, they're lucky to have him.  Driscoll leads the junior Sox in all offensive categories, and has played error free ball at first according to coach Chuck Trafton.

"He's a solid all around player," said Trafton, "He can adapt and he is consistently focused."

Driscoll will move up to the senior league next year, and this seventh grader's only two years away from possibly becoming a difference maker for the North Andover High School Scarlet Knights.
