Boy Arrested After Threatening To 'Shoot Up' School: Police
A 12-year-old boy was arrested after threatening to "shoot up" the school on the school's Instagram account.

METHUEN, MA — An elementary school student was arrested and after he made a threat against his school and one of its employees on social media, police said. The boy, 12, was arrested Monday and charged with making threats to a school and threatening to commit murder.
The principal of the Tenney School notified police of a post on the school's Instagram account threatening to "shoot up" the school, referencing a specific employee. Police tracked down the owner of the account.
The boy has been released into the custody of his mother. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence Juvenile Court.

No weapons were found in a search of the boy's home.

"Our community is the eyes and ears of law enforcement, and the partnerships developed between our police officers and community members are strong, as indicated by the actions tonight that brought a swift and safe end to this disturbing incident," Methuen Mayor James Jajuga said.
