On Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 at 8:00PM more than 15 of Boston’s best comics will take the stage at China Blossom Restaurant & Lounge’s in-house comedy club, Lots of Laughs, in North Andover, MA. The night’s performances will honor Kevin Knox, a Tyngsboro native who made comedy club audiences all over the country laugh for three decades with his no-holds-barred style, but lost his 5-year battle with melanoma in 2009. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit two scholarships at Kevin’s alma mater, Tyngsboro High School.
Knox, the self-proclaimed “Wild Man of Comedy,” was discovered by comedian Lenny Clarke in the early 1980’s at the Ding Ho in Cambridge, MA. He performed regularly at clubs in Boston, Las Vegas and Atlantic City and made appearances on “Rescue Me” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” After his diagnosis in 2004, Knox turned to holistic therapies, including an organic vegetarian diet, and lived years longer than the few months doctors had predicted.
Boston comics rallied around Knox as he battled melanoma, and continue to honor his memory with this annual fundraiser. The event will feature prizes, raffles and giveaways, and guests will enjoy China Blossom’s authentic Asian cuisine as they laugh the night away. Tickets are $20 per person, and can be purchased here. This is an event not-to-be-missed!
