
The Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to feature talented and award winning Heifitz protégé, violinist Zina Schiff. Ms. Schiff has dazzled audiences throughout North America, Eastern and Western Europe, Israel, and Australia. Zina will perform Symphonie Espangnole for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 21. As a masterful artist, Zina has performed at various summer festivals, including Aspen, Music from Bear Valley, Mendocino, Sewanee and Newport, Rhode Island. Radio listeners may also be familiar with Ms. Schiff’s sensational performances on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, WGBH’s Morning Pro Music in Boston, and New York’s WQXR. The artist has also appeared on PBS Nova television program “What is Music” where she performed the Sibelius concerto on an experimental violin by Texas A & M professor Joseph Nagyvary leading her to record The Stradivarius Puzzle. A number of Zina’s award winning CD recordings can be found on the 4Tay label.
The orchestra will round out the concert by playing Mozart’s Overture to the Magic Flute, Bizet’s Symphony No. 1 in C Major and El Relicario, by Jose Padilla.
