Field Hockey Knights Back in Action Today

North Andover hosts defending state champs Andover today in its first preseason game.

Welcome to the sixth installment of our Scarlet Knights fall sports season preview. Today we look at the North Andover High School field hockey team.

Last year’s squad went into the MIAA Division 1 North playoffs with high hopes, a good record, and a favorable seed.

The Knights finished up the regular season with an 11-4-4 record, using a to clinch its spot in the tourney.

With the number five seed, the in the first round.

The heartbreaking moment came in double overtime when Newton North’s Bobby Grimshaw scored his second goal of the game.

The team is expected to remain strong in the 2011 season as the solid nucleus of young and proven talent remains.

The Knights host defending champion Andover today in each team's first preseason game of the year. Andover won last year’s state title with a 24-0 record. The game is at 3pm at Walsh Stadium today.

The two teams will meet again during regular season, and that game will be on Oct. 15 at 10am.

The regular season gets underway on Sept. 7 when Manchester Essex is in town.

Down the stretch, North Andover will have the tough task of facing Reading, Pentucket, and Masconomet to close out the regular season.
