Golf Team Swings into Action

North Andover's first competition is Sept. 6 against Triton.

Welcome to the third installment of our Scarlet Knights fall sports season preview. Today we look at the North Andover High School boys golf team.

Last year was a memorable one for the Scarlet Knights golfers.

North Andover brought home its first sectional title since 1987.

The Knights also had a significant impact at the MIAA Division 2 State Tournament last October at the Pocasset Golf Club.

With a combined score of 339 strokes, the North Andover team of John Boyle, Chris Tierney, Ross Boyle, Nick DePace, Alec Brown, and Collin Hubbell earned sixth place in the final team standings.

There were only nine strokes higher than third place Wellesley.

North Andover’s top score came from John Boyle who shot an 84. Boyle was 11 strokes higher than Peter French of Franklin who owned the day with a 74.

This year, the Knights start practicing on Monday, Aug. 29.

North Andover’s first tourney is against Triton this season. On Tuesday, Sept. 6 the Knights travel to Ould Newbury Golf Club to get their season underway at 3:30pm.

Other important dates on the schedule include a pair of dates against Masconomet. Masco will visit the on Sept. 15 at 3:30.

North Andover will visit the Turner Hill Golf Club in Ipswich to face off against Masco on Oct. 18 at 3:30.

The Cape Ann League Open will be on Thursday, Oct. 20 this year. The event starts at 9am on Oct. 20 at the Far Corner Golf Course in Boxford.
