Massive Lawrence Fire: 50 Displaced

A six-alarm fire broke out in Lawrence on Bennington Street Sunday, damaging six buildings and displacing 50 people, officials said.

LAWRENCE, MA — A massive fire in Lawrence Sunday afternoon damaged six buildings and displaced 50 people, officials. The blaze reportedly started in the area of 118 Bennington Street and spread to multiple residential buildings. No serious injuries were reported.

Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, according to WHDH/7News. Firefighting conditions were horrendous Sunday afternoon, as temperatures soared to more than 90 degrees. The Red Cross said 50 people were displaced; an aid station was established at the nearby Arlington Middle School.
