Lawrence Man Arrested For Attempted North Andover Bank Robbery
The release of a photo taken from surveillance footage led to the man's arrest on Friday.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- A Lawrence man pleaded no guilty Monday in Lawrence District Court to a charge of with attempted unarmed robbery, and Salem, NH Police plan to charge him with an earlier robbery in that community. Scott Hayward, 32, of Lawrence, was arrested Friday on outstanding traffic warrants by Lawrence Police after investigators received a tip stemming from the release of a photo taken from surveillance footage during an unsuccessful attempt to rob a Bank of America branch in North Andover last week.
Investigators believe Hayward made off with an undisclosed amount of cash during a robbery of a Bank of America branch in Salem, NH on June 4. After being arrested by Lawrence Police, Hayward was interviewed by detectives, who obtained a search warrant for his home and the vehicle believed to be used in the robberies. Items were recovered that could be seen in the footage.
Hayward is being held on $10,000 cash bail. He is due back in court July 24 for a pretrial hearing.
