Lawrence Man Sentenced For Boston-Area Opioid Trafficking: DOJ
Juan Reyes and his co-conspirators transported opioids from Miami to Massachusetts, then laundered the profits back in Florida.

BOSTON, MA – A Lawrence man was sentenced in a Boston federal court Wednesday for his role in an opioid trafficking conspiracy in Massachusetts and Florida, the U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling's Office said. Juan Reyes, 29, was sentenced to 55 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone and one count of conspiracy to launder monetary instruments.

Reyes and other co-conspirators were arrested in March 2017 for their roles in a widespread conspiracy that involved fentanyl, oxycodone, and heroin trafficking and money laundering in Massachusetts and Florida, according to the Department of Justice. The arrests followed a three-year federal investigation into New England opioid trafficking.

Since 2014, Reyes and Craig Drummond, of Sunny Isles Beach, Fla., transported "sizeable quantities of oxycodone" from Miami to Massachusetts. Once it got here, it was distributed around the greater Boston area. The money then went back to Florida, where it was laundered.
Drummond pleaded guilty and is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
