Local Resident Fulfills Her Own Promise by Achieving the Publication of Her Debut YA Novel, Children of Annwn: The Promise.
Local resident fulfills her dream of publication and acknowledges it takes hard work, unswerving dedication, and teamwork.
Jennifer Owen Davies who lives in North Andover with her husband, and three of her four children has been a resident in the town for almost twelve years. In 2009, after returning from Wales the story which had been circulating inside her head for years was created.
What started as a very cathartic exercise whilst sitting by her pool in the New England summer of 2009, turned into a forceful and driving passion that even on the darkest days wouldn’t let go until the goal she had set for herself was complete. With a background in nursing and midwifery deciding to write a full-length novel which stands at one hundred and sixteen thousand words was never an easy task but a labor of love. There were many lessons to learn, and hurdles to overcome including her self-doubt that such a feat could be accomplished.
However, even though the story is a romantic fantasy, there are real elements within the pages about believing in yourself in order to achieve your dreams despite the difficulties because life is full of challenges, which test us to the limit. Facing every step of the journey from writing to publication with a resolute determination not to give up and surrounded by a team of supporters Jennifer pushed forward undertaking courses to learn her craft, seeking feedback of her work and ultimately re-writing the story before submitting. Throughout the entire process, she discovered the way to achieving her heart’s desire was perseverance, hard work, and the help of family and friends. The theme of battling on and enduring no matter what you’re faced with is at the center of Mia and Ryder’s story as they discover in order to fulfill their promise they need to work together and keep trying.
