Man Wanted In Nightclub Killing Has Ties To 3 MA Cities: Police

State police said a man wanted in a fatal shooting in December should be considered armed and dangerous.

LAWRENCE, MA — A man accused in a fatal shooting at a Lawrence nightclub has been added to Massachusetts State Police's Most Wanted List.

Franklin Laras, 27, is wanted in the killing of Edward Javier-Perez, 29, at the Energy Lounge in Lawrence, according to state police.

Police responded to reports of gunfire Dec. 24 at the Energy Lounge at 459 Broadway. Officers found Javier-Perez suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to an area hospital where he was declared dead.

A police investigation identified Laras as the shooter. Police said evidence suggests that shortly after entering the club, Laras had a fight with Javier-Perez. Laras drew a handgun and shot the victim at close range.

He then fled and remains at large. He has ties to Lawrence, Springfield, and Palmer, state police said.

Police have not recovered the gun used in the shooting.

Laras is facing charges of murder and two counts of gun violations. Laras has two prior convictions for crimes involving guns or violence, state police said.

Laras is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 200 lbs. He has numerous tattoos. He is "actively attempting to evade capture and should be considered armed and dangerous," state police said. Police nationwide have authority to extradite him.
