Moving Day Boston to Support the National Parkinson Foundation
People who move change the world! Boston’s inaugural Moving Day event to benefit the National Parkinson Foundation (NFP) will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Artesani Park on the Charles River in Brighton. The festivities begin at 9AM with Zumba, drumming, boxing, yoga and more.
Local home care agency, Right at Home North of Boston, has been part of the organizing team since the NFP proposed adding Boston to their list of cities to run this event. Marblehead resident Rosaleen Doherty CSA, co-owner of Right at Home North of Boston shares, “There are many ways our local communities can help. You could start a team and come to Brighton on the 11th, join the Right at Home team, become a corporate sponsor, or just donate. We all know someone or a family that has been touched by Parkinson’s. The NFP’s mission is to help those with Parkinson’s today and their families that need a lot of support. Boston is the only city that has two NFP Centers for Excellence- one at Mass General and the other at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. We, in the Boston area, are on the cutting edge of treating and supporting those with Parkinson’s disease. The Moving Day money will go to support these centers, their research and their patients.”

Doherty continues, “We use movement as a symbol of hope and progress because of its essential role in treating Parkinson’s. You can choose to move by walking, stretching or doing yoga in the signature Movement Pavilion. Every move you make and every penny you raise will bring us closer to beating Parkinson’s.”
Winning the battle against Parkinson’s disease has been an integral part of the NPF’s mission since it was founded in 1957. The money raised through Moving day will directly improve the lives of the one million people living with Parkinson’s in US by:
